A Friendly Dog Who Loves Water

Side-quest I’m failing at. For now.

I want a big friendly dog who loves to to fetch a tennis ball that I’ve thrown far into the ocean.

Now, the reason I’m failing is because I have had two dogs who, for different reasons, do not hit the mark. By the way, I have loved both of them… but…

One was an adorable white chihuahua-dashund mix, who we got for Bradley when he was seven because his sister’s kindergarden teacher, who was a foster dog mom, convinced Bradley that he needed one. Poppy was a three month old rescue who was, basically, addicted to me and me only. She wore sweaters. We had a dog who wore little pink sweaters. She hated the water. Sadly, she passed a few months ago.

Eight years ago I convinced my wary family to get an Australian Shephard/Lab mix as a three month old puppy. The first time I picked her up, I fell madly in love with her. I still am in love with her, and her smell, and her funny ways. Let’s just say that we have had three trainers tell us she just doesn’t understand dog social cues and gives off weird signals, and she is reactionary, so we take her for walks far into the forest where she can be the athletic gorgeous super-dog she thinks she is.

Don’t ask me why… I couldn’t possibly know, but I love Swiss Mountain dogs. No, I don’t have one. But, my side-quest is to one day have an easy-going dog who trots along without a care in the world, saying Howdy to everyone with a chill confident vibe. Who goes for walks anywhere, anytime, with me and our secret that I have a stinky tennis ball in my pocket that we both know is going to hit water soon.
